Lubrication Systems Description

Kirkpatrick Wire Rope Lubrication Systems are designed so that in only one application wire rope can have its surface and grooves scraped clean of product build-up and grit while at the same time any new lubricant is uniformly applied to the newly cleaned surface and injected into the very core. Moisture trapped in the internal strands is forced out and replaced with the new lubricant. All systems are compatible with low as well as high viscosity lubricants.

Each system comes complete with one size seal and scraper plate kit and the required components necessary to commence immediate operation. The size of the seal and scraper plate kit is determined at the time the order is placed. The user provides the air source and enough lubricant to accomplish the task at hand. Recommended air pressure settings for various wire rope travel speeds in conjunction with lubricant viscosities are provided in the operating manuals which accompany each system.

Each size wire rope requires a corresponding size seal and scraper plate kit and optional groover kit (if there is entrapped product build-up in the groove pattern of the subject wire rope). Therefore, if the user has additional sizes of wire rope to be lubricated, corresponding sized seal and scraper plate kits / groove cleaner kits will need to be ordered. All seal and scraper plate kits / groovers are easily interchangeable. The seal kits slip easily into the lubrication collar and the groovers snap directly into the groove pattern of the wire rope.

NOTE:  Kirkpatrick Wire Rope Lubrication Systems come in two basic configurations; Standard for wire rope sizes 1/8" to 1-7/8" and Jumbo for wire rope sizes 3/8" to 3 7/8".

  The Standard System incorporates a 50:1 ratio / 50 ounce per minute capacity pump package and a lubrication collar capable of accommodating seal and scraper plate kit sizes up to 1-7/8" (47-48 MM).

Models Available:
• SU35B: 5 gallon (35#) portable cart unit.
• SU120: 16gallon (120#) drum unit.
• SU400: 55 gallon (400#) drum unit.

  Though it can accommodate smaller wire rope sizes the Jumbo System incorporates higher volume 50:1 and 100:1 ratio pump packages to accommodate larger wire rope sizes and faster travel speeds. The JU120 and JU400 models incorporate pump packages which deliver lubricant to the lubrication collar at maximum capacities of 15 pounds per minute. The JU120B and JU400B models are designed for large slow moving wire rope sizes where high 100:1 ratio pressures are required to impregnate the rope with highly viscous materials. Maximum lubricant delivery on these models is approximately 9 pounds per minute.

• JU400: 50:1 ratio high volume 55 gallon drum unit.
• JUI2OB: 100:1 ratio high volume 16 gallon drum unit which can also be adapted to 5 gallon pails.
• JU40OB: 100:1 ratio high volume 55 gallon drum unit.
